Meeting Porch · The Gram Files · Story Three · Snot Nose Pig Patrol
A short file, because some operations only take one Sunday. The Patrol was dispatched to measure hope at Gram’s house during a Steelers game. The instrument broke. The reading was too high.

The weekend had already started well. On Saturday, Jerry and the girls were at Gram’s — the house in its natural state, which is occupied by people she loves. Then came Sunday, and with Sunday, the Steelers, and with the Steelers, the reason this file exists.
Gram’s official report on the game contains a scouting observation the Patrol believes deserves its own plaque: Shanna was, she wrote, very intense, praying for a Steelers win.
Very intense. Not “hoping.” Not “rooting.” Praying — at an intensity level her own mother felt required documentation.
The Patrol deployed its full Prayer Intensity Desk for the occasion. Blue manned the hope gauge, which is a pie tin with a needle glued to it, and reported needle behavior he described as “concerning and then inspiring.” Red attempted to pray at matching intensity and pulled something. Rainbow, who keeps the family records, filed the weekend under its proper heading: Great time — her words, and also the correct words.
From the field report
Final assessment, in Gram’s summary: a great time was had this weekend. The Patrol concurs and notes that in this family, a Steelers Sunday at Gram’s is not a viewing party. It is a shift — everybody on duty, hope at full staffing.
Hope level at Gram’s house: off the chart, possibly visible from the stadium. Shanna is awarded the Golden Snout for Prayer Intensity, First Class. The pie-tin gauge has been retired in her honor. The Patrol will return next Sunday. The Patrol returns every Sunday. This is the job.
Story notes: Built from Angie Klippi’s Facebook posts — September 20, 2026 (Shanna’s intense praying, Jerry and the girls’ Saturday visit, the great weekend), with the quilt from September 12, 2026. The game-day scenes are as she reported them; the hope gauge, the Prayer Intensity Desk, and the award are the Patrol’s invention, as usual. The Patrol takes no official position on the Steelers. The Patrol’s heart, however, is not neutral.
